Navigating Love's Labyrinth: Reflections on Mother's Day and Family Dynamics

Today, I picked up this card that says, "I release all fears and doubts." I found it interesting because yesterday was Mother's Day, and I wanted to reflect on it.

My children weren't with me. One son called on Saturday, and the other called on Sunday. I don't think it means much to them. Throughout the year, my husband has come to view it as a commercial celebration, so it's not emphasized much. However, I believe there's more to it than just presents and obligations, but that's just my spiritual side talking. Interestingly enough, yesterday he surprised me with a gift, flowers, and even baked for me.

I had a pleasant Sunday. I was super excited to talk with my youngest son and enjoyed the attention from my husband.

Mother's Day used to be a big deal in my family because my dad made it special. However, it's not the same for my husband, and that's okay. It is what it is.

That being said, it's important not to confuse everything and think, "They didn't think of me on that special day; they don't love me." Those thoughts are tricks of the mind triggered by fear and doubt. Just to put you at ease, let me share a story about my best friend. Last year, she forgot her husband's birthday. When she came home, he had bought a cake, and she asked him, "Why did you buy a cake?" It was quite awkward... Yet, they have a healthy and loving relationship. So, don't trust every story your mind creates because it's quick to imagine things that aren't true.

Love is permanent. We may have difficulties in communication at times, but it doesn't mean there's no love. I remember a story I heard many years ago about two siblings who used to fight all the time. One day, while they were at the beach, someone started annoying the younger sibling, and immediately, the older brother came to protect him. It's in adversity that people come closer to each other. So, if you're having a hard time with some of your children, take a deep breath, let go of any negative thoughts, and have faith in the love you have for them. Be ready to make amends and forgive with an open heart. They will find their way back to you.
